143. Awww...I heart that pairing. Because I am such a sucker for innocent romances (which is why I ship pairings like Sora/Kairi and WALL-E/EVE too).

175. Do what you want. But do remember that you'll be the one responsible if your kid gets bullied at school for it and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he decides to have a different name. There was a reason why that girl who was called 'Talulua Does The Hula' took her parents to court to get her name changed. I mean, why can't you give the name 'Sakura' to one of your pets instead? At least they won't get upset by it.

I couldn't disagree more. When someone is bullied it's not their fault, or their parents fault. It's the bullies that are doing something wrong.

Okay, admittedly I should have rethought what I said - I should have said "Don't be surprised if your kid gets bullied for it". Sure, bullies are more responsible (because kids like that are stupid and mean) and sure, kids get teased by nicknames (my name is pretty normal but I was given stupid nicknames at school - my dad had similar problems) but I think that having a name like that would very likely increase the kid's chances of being picked on so I would think that the mother would at least be partly at fault here. And I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the boy hates her for it.

It all depends on how this kid is raised, and how his future classmates and friends are raised. Some teasing is to be expected in school, because that happens to everyone, and if it's not about the name it will be something else. Real bullying however shouldn't be accepted or expected for any reason.

Fair enough, you have a point. But the tone of the secret just kind of looked selfish to me – as if she didn’t care what would happen to her kid in later life. Sort of “Lalalala I need to have a name called Sakura. I don't care what other people say or what happens to my boy's welfare! :P” Maybe the mother was well-intentioned (and I never said that she wouldn't raise her kid properly) but presented her secret wrong.

That and the idea that you’re named after your mother’s obsession with a fandom sounds horribly scary and humiliating to me.
