Not slang, so much as association. But still. If you are going to name your son Sakura, please remember that the Japanese families down the street will not be laughing because it is a girls' name, but because you have named your son after the vagina flower.

Sakura is a common girls' name in Japan and the name of their national flower. Many things are named after it. There would be something wrong with the Japanese family that thinks "vagina" before anything else upon hearing "sakura". Maybe they would more readily think that if it was a boys' name. But still, don't mis-educate.

No, no, I'm not saying that that's all the sakura flower means. What I'm saying is--kids in America are already cruel enough in their nicknaming. You could take any normal-enough name, put it in front of a five-year-old, and get a horrible nickname or association with it (hell, my name is as about as common as they come, and wasn't safe. You wouldn't think you could mock "Jane", but...). And I don't really think that American kids are the only ones with horrible name-teasing issues. It's bad enough that the guy's name is Sakura already, for crying out loud. What I'm trying to communicate is "please no more cannon fodder."

tl;dr - sorry if I came off as perverted. kids are fucking rude.

Oh, well now I see what you mean. That makes more sense. My parents even considered the mock-factor before naming me, and those little assholes still found a way as soon as I hit public schools.
