Seriously? The found of PETA is a major wackadoodle who thinks that nobody should have pets and that animals are better off dead than being pets.

My dog could hold lectures on how everyone in the house is actually a slave to her needs.

My cat says this is her house, but she tolerates our presence because we feed, brush, and play with her. She'll sometimes deign to allow us to pet her kitty cheeks, but only when she thinks it is okay. She picked us, and we're privileged to be her humans.

I can maybe get the “no pets” thing considering that some pets are abused but why kill them? Why not spend all that money on sterillising?

Because the hardcore PETA people are nutjobs who don't really care about animals, they care about some horrible ideology that's divorced from the real world or human decency.
