That thing with the chat show hosts is so awful. They know they have a good chance to make the celeb guest uncomfortable and lunge at it, and I have to flip away so I don't die of second-hand embarrassment watching the guest try to play it cool. It's also never good fic or art that they use. Finally, the whole "just don't share it with the actors" thing goes right out the window if someone else is just going to come along, grab someone's fanwork, and try to use it to embarrass an actor on tv.
