I mean, a lot of characters (male and female) in my experience are intended to be pretty/handsome, yes. Because most of this stuff is fantasy, not real life.

Even most books where characters are described as plain or average, then go on in the next description to have ~porcelain skin~ or ~flowing hair~.

I don't think I've read a book where the author was like, "And then there was this girl. Who looked like she got hit with the back end of a shovel."

Maybe I'm just confused by the term exhausting? Like, I don't get the connection between pretty everywhere and being tired? Or do you mean like, you're over it?

I am tired of it being everyone on TV being impossibly good-looking. I find it alienating and tiring.

Okay, I guess I don't really find everyone impossibly good looking on TV. Movies, sometimes, but TV does seem to have a little more reality imo.
