123. Sometimes things get super popular for a reason? I got into FMA because I found the first DVD in the $5 bin at the local overstock closeout store and thought it might make a good stocking stuffer for my boyfriend. I'd never heard of it at the time (no cable) and it became my favorite series because it was just damned interesting. If someone really likes something, why should it matter how many other people like it too?

110. Since the secret used a picture from the manga, of a scene not really in the anime... I thought the manga ending and the manga!Kenshin/Kaoru was what it meant. (I wish people would just forget about that OVA... purge it from their memories, and instead discuss the manga a bit more...)

119- I don't think they think he is right. Yes, they go along with it, most o fthe time, but I think they think it is wrong. And I get the impression that the audience is supposed to think he is wrong. In fact I interpret it as the evil/cowboy American doing anything because the means justified the end. And I view it as the Brits thinking the US is evil. Which sadly, our leaders in the name of the "war against terrorism" have convinced the rest of the world we are. Or I could be just overthinking things, but I don't think so.

110: Rurouni Kenshin (manga AND anime AND the two OAVs) makes me cry like a little bitch. Every. single. time.

139: IAWTS. A lot. Pic especially relevant. Gwen is the big one that I defend to death, because I honestly do not get the hate. She's no worse than any of the other morally questionable characters in that fandom especially.

110. I loved that particular scene... the panelling was very effective! When I read it, I had already read spoilers of it, so nothing surprised me or shocked me, but there was still something about it that was touching.
But I never cried until volume 28. Then I did, along with Enishi~ Good times...

164. AHHH ANOTHER JON/JOHN SHIPPER! YES. They're totally my TDS OTP. And, yes, there needs to be lots more porn of them. Ditto for Brad/Colin (though Brad/Ryan is my #1 WL OTP). I also agree 100% with the Ry/Col EWWW. I don't care much for Jon/Stephen either, but it doesn't squick me like Ry/Col does.

But, yeah, sometimes I wish I went for the more obvious OTPs too, just so I'd never run out of fic to read.

Also, are you implying there is Jon/John/Stephen fic out there? Where might I find that?

Popular anime is popular because it's fucking everywhere. Pic fucking related.

I think it's too early to say that it was a pointless death, since we haven't seen its aftermath at all and it will clearly affect at least one other supporting character. And they foreshadowed that something would happen to the henchmen with all the cryptic comments about them being "invulnerable but expendable" this season. There was definitely shock value to it, but I don't think that shows a hatred for the fans any more than killing Hank and Dean and revealing they were clones did. Doc and Jackson are huge fanboys themselves, and so much of this show is about terrible things happening to these really likable characters.

Very, what a tragedy it will be that the world will never experience their talent! You know, even if the secret maker (and others) could be better writers if they actually wrote something, it's the fact that they don't sit down and write something and people like JK Rowling do that sets them apart and immediately makes them a tiny bit less .. talented? It's not just about having an idea and having the competence to write something; it's about the motivation and the dedication. Even if a book isn't that fantastic by any standards, it's still a book that took time, effort and love to create. Which you can't really criticise if you don't have the same dedication. More grr-ing. XD
