Is Gurren Lagann really a highly popular anime series with a huge, thriving fandom filled with wannabees? Because it's the first time I'm hearing about it.

What's it about?

Is it about pretty boys doing stuff?

Hahaha, actually, I'd have to say that Gurren Lagann really IS that, at least to a degree. Maybe not around people who only watch dubs, at least not so far, but it's a huge Internet phenomenon.

I wouldn't call the boys pretty, per se, except possibly Viral and possibly Kamina, though he's not... stereotypically pretty. It's the show about the small group of humans, in a society in which humans are forced to live underground by the furries Beastmen, trying to ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWAA and make it so humans aren't the "lesser society" and can live on the surface too. It's filled with ridiculous inspirational messages, shouting, giant robots, impossible sword maneuvers, action lines, huge glints on weapons, awesome moe women, and ridiculously shounen backgrounds like volcanoes exploding. It's also the series with all the timeskips, and those two (http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r99/GaoGaiGar-KingOfBraves/kamina.jpg) characters (http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p238/mari_pwns/nia_400_357.png) (well, more than two, but mostly those two from what I've seen) that everyone online either seems to love-worship or loathe-hate. Also Rossiu.

I'd recommend checking it out, just know that the first episode will either hook you or bore you, but I recommend sitting through the first half-dozen or so before you make a concrete decision whether you love-or-hate it. :>

Oh hey, I know that girl! I bought a sticker of her at AE. I didn't know who she was, but the art was really cute. So, she works to fight furry oppression? Huh. I feel bad for using her as my bookmark for The Wind Through the Willows now.

Actually, she's got a neat connection to Lord Genome (the maaain bad guy), and would probably loev any sweet adorable furries, so don't feel so bad! Yeah, she shows up partway through the series as the MC's love interest, so obviously everyone either loves her to death or hates her guts. ;; She is adorable, though, weirdass eyes that I also keep getting pinged with, and therefore laughing at, in Reborn aside~
