BotW is still around...I think? I see new fanart from it fairly frequently...never went searching for fic.

I spend a lot of time hanging around the (very active) subreddit for it though. People there are actually pretty chill.

Yeah, it's around, but it's noticeably slowing down and that has me worried. I actually actively write fanfics for BotW and enjoy that :D I may have the courage to do fanart at some point, too, but at the moment I'm still intimated by the designs of the characters.
