The whole thing feels a bit like they either didn't really want to get rid of him in the first place or no other director would take on the job and they really want to release the third part. It's perhaps a mixture of both.

I have such mixed feelings about the situation in the first place that I didn't really have much of an emotion when I read he was rehired. I just felt sort of...neutral/numb/tired?
