I find this franchise's constant amendments to its own metaphysical rules way too convoluted now to even attempt to pin down something as nebulous as the characters' ages. I miss KH when the plot was a simple and charming story. That said, all the way back in 2006-2007 when this was my OTP, I actually did think there was a significant age gap here. I remembering highlighting it in my writing and talking about it with other people, most of whom didn't agree with me.

The thing is, age gap or no, I just don't see why it should matter. KH fandom has always skewed young, and yes, as a young teen I loved the idea of shipping a young teen with an older person. I wrote tons of fic about it, and then... became an entirely normal person. As I grew older and ceased to relate to younger characters, those kinds of stories just don't really appeal to me anymore, but they didn't do any harm before even when I was obsessed with the ship.
