Idk, I can't remember the last time I found a story where a 30+ year old single woman turned out to be the heroine that saves the world through determination and perseverance and the power of friendship.

I can remember lots of super special Chosen One children and teens of whatever gender, sometimes adult men (primarily in action flicks and video games), the occasional female gun-toting badass and/or mother bear (which is a different genre from shonen anyway)... but nothing that would fall into the same genres and themes as shonen (e.g. determination, power of friendship, saving the world) with an adult female lead.

Glad to take recs if you got 'em.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Terminator (in the sequel, she becomes a gun-toting badass)
Alien (in the sequel, she becomes a gun-toting badass)

I don't know the first one, but Terminator and Alien are absolutely not shonen genre.

Captain... Marvel?

That's technically superhero. FTR, flicks like Avengers or characters like Superman aren't really 'shonen' either. It's theoretically similar in the way that sci fi is technically a form of fantasy, but not quite the same thing. Superhero stories tend to focus less on friendship and groups.

Let's see... the comedy movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story is shonen genre. Pitch Perfect which is all-female leads could possibly count, but those are all students, again. Bridesmaids, on the other hand doesn't, because nobody has to team up to beat a rival or opponent or anything like that.

The female Ghostbusters might count? I haven't seen it.
