It's literally a ship made to spite Steve and glorify Tony. I find it so funny that it has barely any fic (comparatively speaking to the rest of the ships in this fandom), probably because shippers know it's not an interesting ship when you remove the anti-Steve aspect and Stephen and Tony are basically the same character.

All the "oooh, Steve wants Tony but doesn't get him because Stephen jumped in to treat him better, get rekt Steve!!" fic and art is also baffling because...Steve doesn't really give a shit about Tony in the MCU? If he had to pick a guy to be romantically involved with, it's clearly Bucky or Sam. So the bitter Tony stan spite stands out even more.

I think that what you mention in your second paragraph is less a reaction to canon itself than to the prevalence of Steve/Tony ship in the fandom when, as you say, canon doesn't support it at all.

Some of them are also probably burned stony shippers who fell on the Team Iron Man side of the fight and feel "betrayed" over how canon turned out.

Oh, Steve stans. The fandom will be so much more pleasant when Endgame drives most of you out for good.

Says the person who has literally no idea how fandom works. It is like my grandma trying to commentate on internet things.

I mean, everything I said was correct, so. You mad?

(Anonymous) 2019-03-26 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Shhh, shhh, it's okay, Tony stan, go back to writing more bitter IronStrange fic where you treat that evil Steve like shit, you'll feel much better.

Uhh... how exactly is it going to drive them out for good?

I mean, if he dies I figure there'll be oodles of fix-it fic, AUs, posts about how he didn't deserve it or about how heroic his death was...

Or am I missing the obvious and you are talking about something completely different?

(genuinely curious, I swear)

lmfao if you actually believe this, how naive
