I've never read the comics, just familiar with the tv show, but they were raised as siblings. Fucked up child soldier siblings, but siblings. The show really pushes the whole sibling/family thing.

OT, but I totally have the book that that cover is from.

It's Gentle Rogue by Johanna Lindsey.

Anyway, it will probably pass, sometimes you just get on weird jags where you just seems to want to write some particular thing. But then, after it passes, you might not be able to write it to save your life for a while.

But they weren't raised as siblings? Just friends from childhood.

Hey, CSI. Nick Stokes got kidnapped, buried alive, and attacked by ants. Maybe we could have seen more aftermath of that than a pedostache and once being nervous about going underground?!!?

Hey, Justified. I get that Raylan and Boyd are your main thing but Rachel and Tim were also very interesting and not as annoying as your to main characters.

Worked. Walked the dog. I made jello because I said fuck it I want childhood comfort food, but it's taking forever to set :((((

I saw glimpses of an interesting character, but I was thrown by how immature and petty she was around other girls.

(Anonymous) 2019-03-26 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
the show sure as hell pushed the family aspect of their relationships really hard though, and they refer to each other by brother and sister a lot, they also all call their mother and father mom and dad.

like dude, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

Well, I just finished rage-crying about the online course I'm trying to do having shit accessibility and that the government hates me and wants me to suffer; and in a bit I'm going to go hang out with a friend and we're gonna eat chocolate and watch cartoons. So, fairly mixed.

Also, I spent way too much time this morning trying to persuade a chicken to eat her food. It's right there! Just... go! Eat! Stop walking in the opposite direction and eaT YOUR FOOD!

Likewise.

I agree, it's not easy. And it's great when you all can just fall back into something, even if it's only for a couple of months.

You mean like the two that were trying to fuck each other since they hit puberty?

(Anonymous) 2019-03-27 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
The show also pushed Luther/Allison so....

Accountant! It’s my career, unfortunately. I don’t know if I’ve gaslit myself into liking speadsheets, but I’m looking into having work pay for advanced classes for me because, holy shit, spreadsheets is a really marketable skill and alarmingly impressive to people who don’t spreadsheet.

I've already said this but it bears repeating, fire ant bites leave scars. I have scars on my arms from bedbug bites which aren't anywhere near as bad as fire ant bites. And I agree with you, he would have been more traumatized psychologically. It bothers me when TV characters seem required to get over this sort of thing very quickly and it's kind of insulting to people who have PSTD in real life.

God, I want Nebula to be the one to kill Thanos. I don't have high hopes for it, at all, but if there was any justice in the universe, she'd get to do it.

I always feel a little bit bad for not liking Boromir as much as some people, because his realisation of what he’s done and his death scene genuinely are really affecting. Maybe it’s just that he had the misfortune to die in the first book, and so many other heartwrenching and heartwarming things happened afterwards? He ranks somewhere in the middle of the Fellowship for me (Legolas and Gimli, Merry and Pippin, Boromir, Aragorn, Gandalf, Sam and Frodo), and he’s actually only my third favourite Gondorian, after his brother, and my favourite book character who nobody ever remembers, BEREGOND.

I’m not sure how I would react to the Ring. I don’t think I’d be drawn in the way Boromir was, but I suspect that’s more to do with apathy and aversion to responsibility than virtue. I have zero ambition, and pretty much everything the Ring wants me to do involves so much more effort and pain and responsibility than I want to have to go through.

I think, if I reacted like anyone, I’d react like Bilbo. Use it for party tricks and not a lot else, and never really get a chance to notice what it’s doing to me until almost too late. Whereupon I promptly pass it on to someone else for it to be their problem instead.

i was talking about all of them but those two absolutely referred to their parents as mom and dad at the same time, like this literally happens in several scenes, they have the same parents.

just because the show refused to acknowledge that it was super fucking weird doesn't mean it wasn't.

I work for Goodwill Industries, I'm a softlines sorter. I go through all the donated clothing we get, determine if it will be sold in our store, on our e-commerce website, or be recycled. I hang and price the clothes and move them onto the sales floor. It's not a bad gig, pays better and is better than having to work retail, and Goodwill does a lot of positive things for the community: we help homeless and low income folks get back on their feet thru job and housing opportunities, we help veterans the same way. We help people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. We have a food pantry and a program that helps low income people purchase their own cars. It's a good company to work for.

I made the original comment and tbh I just didn't feel like writing a bunch of stuff hedging about how it's subjective and just my opinion, even though obviously that's true. Just wanted to shoot from the hip, you know?

I do feel like the reasoning that most people give for why they didn't like it makes absolutely no sense to me, and I found the performance itself delightful.

Bucky in the MCU, he never managed to get beyond 'plot device to make Steve sad/do things' sadly despite TWS setting up some ground-work to lead off from.

He didn't need to be the focal point of a movie or anything, but I'd have liked to have seen a little more of his story, him interacting with other characters in meaningful ways, and man I would have killed for a scene with him and old-Peggy. But that's mostly from me wanting to know what their relationship was like because I cannot imagine that they didn't get along in some respect.
