Hand pain

I've had a lot of pain in my hand (some in both hands, a lot worse on left) the past week or so. I've been really stressed, and I noticed that I was gripping the steering wheel a lot tighter than necessary, so I've eased up on that. But I still have a lot of pain. The pain is worst in my right pinky.

I was figuring it was just muscle. But every time I google hand pain, it suggests carpel tunnel. I don't think it is that. My mother had that, had surgery in both hands, and she used to have pain in her wrists. It is just my hands. But now I'm wondering.

I have issues with carpal tunnel and deathgrip on the steering wheel is one of the things that almost guarantees a flare-up. I end up with pain/tingling in my middle and ringer finger as well as soreness in my wrist. One of these helped:

If nothing else, it reminds me NOT to grip so hard.

You can also try doubling up on over the counter Ibuprofen (taken with food so it doesn't upset your stomach) and see if that helps. Maybe an ice pack, too.

Hmmmm. What I've got is not tingling, it is just sore and aching.

Might just be a strain, then. Can you tell if it's muscle or tendon? Either way,I think treatment is the same. Occasional ice pack, over the counter inflammatories, and take it easy.
