Uh. I hate those series because I see a lot of men use their popularity as proof that all women want abusive, controlling, rapist boyfriends which is actively harmful to me. And also because those kind of tropes does absolutely nothing for me.

It has nothing to do with "I'm not like other girls" OP, and if you've spent any time on this site when 50 Shades of Grey is discussed, you'd damn well know that. You're just rationalizing it as that and disregarding legitimate concerns from women about these series in an attempt to make yourself feel righteous.

Agreed 100%. I was sexually molested as a child. These books promote abusive relationships. 50 Shades is about everything NOT to do in a BDSM relationship, ie ignoring the safe word. I've had abusive boyfriends and so has my best friend. These books are not for teens to read.

Well, they literally aren't for teens. They are marketed for adults.

The three book series in the secret are not marketed to identical demographics.

Twilight is absolutely marketed to teens. IDK about After.

You were talking about 50 Shades. I know Twilight is marketed toward teens. As is appropriate; it's clearly the target demographic.

Just yesterday I got in an argument with a dude on 4chan who kept insisting that 50SOG's popularity is proof all women secretly want to get raped and abused.

>inb4 hurrr that's 4chan that doesn't count

Don't just write off bullshit comments on youtube, reddit, or 4chan, these are real men who legitimately believe these things.

Clever, those men, hiding their own messed up beliefs behind books written as fantasy wish fulfillment for women. Clever, making people like you fall for it so you put the primary blame on the books and women who like them instead of on him.

I mean, you can keep blithely contributing to endangering women just to get your rocks off, I guess, if that makes you feel morally better. I have every right to blame both sides in the equation because you both contribute to my life being worse off.
