I love Downbelow Station and the Morgaine series; I find myself reading the Chanur series every year. <3

Yes!! So good. I love the Mri Wars books, too, and the fantasy stuff - Fortress series and the Ealdwood books....

Hell, there is literally only one book of hers i don't like - the rest are just fucking awesome. :D

(That would be Brothers of Earth.)

She looks interesting. What book of hers would you recommend starting with?

Oh man. What do you like? Sci-fi, start with Merchanter's Luck or the Hellburner books (two) or Rimrunners. Downbelow Station is pretty hard space opera, which you may or may not enjoy.

If you like fantasy, try the Fortress series, or the Dreamstone/Tree of Swords and Jewels, or Paladin....

Cyteen series is sci-fi and very good but also, holy fuck, very disturbing (cloning, brain modification via a kind of brainwashing from infancy....) It's really amazing but it makes me angry and totally squicked every time. Forty-Thousand in Gehenna is amazing, as is the (ongoing, huge) Foreigner series.

I seriously love everything she's written - oh! She also wrote the Rusalka series, which is about Russian folk myths and magic.

I hope you find that you enjoy her - please update me if you decide to read! :D

I like both, but fantasy is my favorite. I will check those out and put some things in my Amazon cart. OOOOO, Rusalka may be first. I love Russian myths.
