It's amazing art, it's just stylized. The animation is stunning and consistent. I agree it's not necessarily my favorite, and the high mouths and dopey kids are kinda meg. But overall, it was really beautiful art direction.

This. It did make me pause at first, but the more I saw of the show the more I digged the art style. I also like how it stands out, because a lot of anime nowadays tend to look samey.
