A monster who was originally white in the book. It's telling that they switched the races.

DA but... telling of what? The audience is very much meant to root for the girl because she's being treated horribly and we feel sorry for her. White girls and women are used for that kind of pathos in movies all the time.

This one movie changes the race of its main character to black instead of white when a million other movies are shredded for doing it the other way around, and you still find something to get mad about.

My only thoughts on this is "You're right. they should have fired the black actress and given the job to a white actress instead"
