nayrt but the above anon specifically mentioned working according to skillset/physical ability.

Plus, there is work and ways to contribute that most disabled people can do. I should know, I used to help coordinate some of those programs. Obviously if you are seriously disabled, no one is expecting you to work and that's intended to be true right now.

The person I replied to literally said, "If you're benefiting from society (which is true of everyone), you need to be contributing to it as well." Not everyone can contribute, so it smacks of eugenics in a way. I already have a lot of dealing with not being able to make ends meet because SSI doesn't do a lot (I became disabled before I could get a job, and after a certain age, so I get SSI but not SSDI).
