I genuinely can't fathom how. They literally break down the symbolism in the movie?

This. It's laid out about as clearly as you can get in the movie itself...

So what, you, like, slept through the last fifth of the movie? Where they go, "OKAY HERE IS ALL THE SYMBOLISM HERE WE GO SYMBOLS EXPLAINED FOR ALL"?

Especially when the conclusion is, "I have a better story as a Hindu, checkmate atheists."

(Not an atheist, but hate bad apologetics.)

I read the book, didn't watch the movie. I was pretty narked when the symbolism was explained. I liked the animals much more.

...I thought it was supposed to be real, and the symbolism was something he made up because nobody believed him.

...it wasn’t even supposed to be real?! I don’t remember it that well but I took the book literally. I thought if it was all made up he would have dropped more hints.

From just the movie, I assumed the non-animal version was meant to be real (I figured it was "Big Fish but on a Boat") but I didn't catch any symbolism. The best I could glean from Wikipedia was "People want to believe the more beautiful story because something something God" but I don't get it.

I have neither seen the film nor read the book and have no thoughts on the actual content of the secret, but that layout is gorgeous. OP, that is a stunningly pretty composition there, good eye, well done, please keep making secrets.
