No. The above users were simply being realistic, which I already knew. You should also know that even if you said it with the best of intentions, that sort of "you can do ANYTHING you set your heart on!" advice isn't going to fool anyone with a decent IQ or life experience. It just sounds like generic pep talk advice, which is why you got the comments you got.

Really though, why not try for some kind of correspondence if you share the same passions? The worst thing that could happen is no response. But there I go again being positive, it must be my low IQ. Shame on me.

You started this thread with a comment that literally said "so you can have her job if you really wanted to" implying it's her fault for not having it due to not "really" wanting it, or not working hard enough to get it. That's pretty berating and belittling.

Just because it's technically true, does NOT mean it's the right thing to tell someone, who's obviously upset over not being able to obtain something they want due to circumstances outside of their control.
