Seconding this. If it's in a professional context or something then yeah, of course I'll try to find the answers to my questions for myself. However, if it's in a social context, then I'm going to ask the person I'm speaking to to elaborate on whatever thing they mentioned that I don't know about, because that's just a lot friendlier and more sociable.
