Eh. To me, misanthropy is a more general dislike of human beings. What people are reacting to is pretty specific to this guy, because of his cruelty to animals and willingness to break laws for personal gain.

This. I see nothing wrong in smirking at poetic justice in a case like this. This guy went there to kill animals and the animals killed him instead. Seems pretty fitting to me.

I think there is a difference between seeing it as poetic justice and calling it good news, though.
