I recommend exploring shows from different countries/cultures for this exact reason. I spent years struggling to enjoy locally produced female-focused content but have had much better luck with foreign shows and cinema. You may find that particular genres play a factor for you too in your enjoyment. For me, I like women to be the lead characters in certain genres (Crime/Mystery/Modern Horror/Historical Drama/Space Opera) and men in others (Fantasy/Romance/Tragedy/Gothic Horror/Paranormal).
