Getting over my internalized misogyny is an ongoing process, but one of those steps have been to stop dismissing female characters in ensemble or even female-led shows. In the past, even ones I liked were still not my favorite, while I raved about (usually equally [poorly] developed/ written) male characters. I'm not saying I love every female character/show now, but it has made such a difference in my appreciation for different roles and fandoms and also in my own perceptions of my self. I highly recommend putting in the effort, OP.
