I've been tempted now and again, but honestly, I am shit at small talk, or conversation in general with people I don't know, so it would just be a disaster.

These contests are never for movies I'm interested in or I'd try.

Like no, I don't want to be at the premiere for Lego Movie 2.

I feel this, OP. And especially knowing you'd be an obligation to that celeb, holy fuck. No thank you tbh

This is the part that always makes me not want to do it. The idea of making a celeb I respect basically babysit me is just really unappealing to me.

TBH, if I had any money, the current one with either Chris Evans or Danai for the Endgame premier run by some charity would totally be something I'd enter. I mean, I'm like you and would feel terrible an ugly. And yet, I've met actors at cons, and they are generally really nice even to people like me.

I respect anyone and everyone who can talk to their favorite celebrities without making a fool of themselves. But here's the secret. You probably will... and that's totally okay. I had an encounter with a famous actor once and wow, not only did I not respond to his friendly question of if I'd like to take a photo with him or have an autograph (as he had offered everyone else) but I also just walked away wordlessly, dying of shyness. I only just barely caught a glimpse of his faulted frown before turning the corner and never seeing him again.

Anyway, if you ever get the chance at a contest again, OP, just go for it if it's something you think you might enjoy. YOLO and all that goodness. I don't regret my meeting of the actor, even if didn't go as planned and I could have been a more composed fan. :)

I had a chance (well, technically have as the event hasn't occured yet) to go to a cast and crew screening of THE movie for my biggest fandom. I was literally begging my friends to help run interference if any of the celebs tried to talk to me, because I could not face what a disaster I would be in that situation. I feel you, OP

I'm unattractive and a failure at life so I feel you on this, OP!

same

I feel you, OP. I've never met any of my favorite actors or musicians, but I've met some of my favorite authors and I acted like a starstruck, babbling fool in front of them. They were all very sweet, but I felt like an idiot afterwards.
