Re: Movie Recs?

Well each to their own. Though I really think you missed the point of the movie. The emperor was a spoilt child. Yzma was a ego maniacal murderess. The good guy didn't want to help restore the emperor and only agreed to do so because he believed the emperors promise. The journey back and all the ordeals they face are the emperors journey to redemption. By the end he's learnt to be a good person.

But I mean, most importantly it's lighthearted fun. It's not supposed to be tumblr analysed because it's just glorious, irreverent fun. Sorry you missed the boat on that one.

DA

"I'd love to know why you thought that."
"Here's why I thought that."
"Your opinion is wrong. Sorry not sorry you were wrong. Also, you shouldn't analyze any movie that's meant to be fun."

Oh, I don't disagree with you that it certainly fills the role of irreverent fun for many people, especially children! But for me, watching it as an adult, I'm afraid I just don't find spoilt children and egomaniacal murderers get bullied but then learn absolutely nothing from it. Kuzco didn't learn to be a good person, he learned to care for a single other person - which hardly redeems him, just means he's extended the limits of his selfishness.

I suppose it might be a good moral lesson for children or anyone still in the process of developing a sense of empathy and who see being a 'good person' as 'caring for other people because it makes them like you', but it really quite fell flat for me. Which is a shame! I'd been looking forward to seeing what all the fuss was about. :)

Anyway, it's a movie I have no interest in, was unsatisfied by, and would hate it if people wasted both their time and mine by recommending stuff in that vein just because I enjoy a lot of animation, so that's why it was in the 'hate' list.
