WHAT omg

I feel like androids having humanity can make for such great stories, and often do. It's one of those things that can make you really reflect on how we are as a society. Especially with Data. One of my all-time favourite lines in Star Trek was in Deja Q, where Q had his powers taken away from the Continuum and became human.

DATA: I was considering the possibility that you are telling the truth, that you really are human.
Q: It's the ghastly truth, Mister Data. I can now stub my toe with the best of them.
DATA: An irony. It means that you have achieved in disgrace what I have always aspired to be.

I honestly feel that "androids having humanity" stories are just so bland and preachy, generally speaking. The narrative is too obvious and cliche at this point, and the trope of robots mirroring human aspiration rarely has much to say that isn't self-congratulatory of smugly misanthropic, imo. Not saying good android characters can't exist, I just hate the trope in general.

Eh, I haven't seen many, but the ones I have seen were done very well. The Measure of Man in S2 of TNG was one done differently and done well.

If you're seeing the same thing over and over again, that's just bad, clichéd storytelling that can be applied to any awesome idea imo.
