I still remember the day when I was a book-loving kid that realized that I would never see a perfect adaptation of any of my beloved books. I learned to appreciate many adaptations, but always mourned the parts lost from the book.

Which is why this series has been so special to me. IT. WAS. PERFECT. It skipped nothing, it had full input from the author so where it made changes, it made sense and even improved on the original. The cast was fantastic, and the sets and wardrobe and every other part was done with such love for the material.

This show literally makes me feel glad to have lived long enough to see it.
The world has changed since I was a kid. A lot of it sucked, but we also got Netflix and people willing to try new things in different ways. Childhood!me just had to wait until I was 30.

So if I'm 60 when they remake the Harry Potter films with this level of excellence, I'll still consider it worth waiting for. 

I know now how wonderful the payoff for patience is.

this is so sweet, and i totally agree. i remember being into the asoue fandom hardcore when i was 14! seeing this series meant so much to me even tho so much has changed about how i interact w fandom since then <3
