It's this awful little pamphlet-book-majigger that's against homosexuality. I'm not entirely sure on this, but I think it was called 'Deathstyle'. I'm pretty sure that my grandfather wrote it before I was even born. orz Way to make all Christians look bad there, Poppy.

I'm sure the very fact that I'm using an X icon to go with a comment talking about him would have him rolling in his grave. er. oops.

Thanks for responding. It honestly feels like something that is making fun of itself where the two men are going to say that stuff and by the end rip each other's clothes off, only because it does sound so overly against it as to go into parody.

Did you make the secret? Because if it was someone else, it must have been a shock to see something like that on fandom secrets.

It...it wasn't a parody. orz I've read the whole thing. I found it when I was a little girl. Part of it was that it was at the height of the AIDS scare, part of it was that my grandfather was an old man set in his ways, and part of it is that he was just batshit insane in some ways. Totally paranoid. He was the sort that honestly believed that mosquitoes could carry AIDS. I didn't particularly like him, and I don't know if he ever cared about me, but I don't think he was a terrible person.

I didn't make the secret. I honestly hoped that I could put most of this behind me. I have a lot of very bad memories, especially of the period surrounding his death. When I saw this secret, I nearly had a heart attack. I googled it, wondering if this had somehow gotten an underground following or god knows what, and found out that his work had recently been posted to what appears to be a sporking community. They all seem quite pleased about his death.

...tl;dr, today has kind of sucked.

About the parody part, I meant it was so homophobic it was almost unbelievable, not that I didn't trust it was still homophobic.

That sporking community you brought up sounds to be full of people who don't really understand what they're talking about. I think sporking communities get in such a critical mindset that they say things without truly thinking about the consequences. If these people thought of him as a human being, I honestly don't believe these people would have said such a terrible thing.

Yeah, I know what a shitty day feels like too. I'm sure that this incident was just the icing on the cake.

Yeah. To be entirely honest, though, I think that there was probably a lot of that stuff floating around in the 80s. It seems unreal to modern sensibilities, but I don't think that this uninformed, homophobic view was that rare. Which is kind of bizarre and awful when you think about it for too long.

I'm trying to make myself believe that. It's gotten reposted in a couple places around the internet, and I'm just hoping and praying that no one else in my family finds it. I can't see it ending in any way well.
