Is this the Gryffindor Common Room? Honestly, same mood.

Even though my house's common room would be dank and wet with green fire. Gryffindor CR >>>

Hufflepuff common room though...

(Anonymous) 2019-04-14 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, Slytherins really got the worst common room. They probably have to cast spells to keep drying their socks.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-14 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I want to move in if that's the case!

(Anonymous) 2019-04-14 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
That...does not look like any of those things to me, but you do you, OP.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-14 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't consider that cosy? It's very cozy to me.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-14 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
NYART - For me at least, it's got too much going on, with the wallpaper and the all the clashing elements. I feel like my brain would be screaming at me if I had to be in there for more than a short time. And the lighting in the picture just makes it look dingy rather than comfortably worn.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-17 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed, fussy and cluttered rather than either cosy or elegant. Just a bunch of stuff shoved in one room in the hopes it looks like they're (still?) rich.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-15 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Previous anon - nah, I prefer my furniture cushions to have actual stuffing, thanks.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-14 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. It looks chaotic and cluttered and not cozy or relaxing at all. But hey, all that matters is OP's opinion since it's going to be their house.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-14 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed.

It looks like a busy, cluttered mess. Yuck.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-15 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
It does look cozy to me at that scale, but OP is right that they would need to tone it down for a smaller room.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-15 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I tend to think of high ceilings, stone walls (even with tapestries), and large fireplaces = cold.

Also, tapestries and lots of pillows/upholstery = dust.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-14 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Like the colors, but the mannequins would freak me out.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-15 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
It's got too much fabric and too many competing prints for me. I would not find it cozy or soothing, there's just way too much going on. But if it works for you, go for it.

I've been so into decorating my homes in the two video games I play for the last year or so that at first I wanted to ask you which game you were playing... then I realized it was probably in real life. LOL

You do you, anon, I have a map of Middle-Earth on my wall, embrace the geek esthetic!

I think it looks very nice, OP!

(Anonymous) 2019-04-15 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for making my comment unto a secret, OP!

Naturally, I'm not going to be copying the Gryffindor Common Room completely. Rather, the set tricks they used to make it look cosy and homely. The picture here looks to be from the studio tour in the UK which doesn't really show it to its best though to be fair.

Also, headless mannequins were not in my plan. ;)
