Same. I only wished they cancelled it before all those creepy RPF episodes...

'All those'? I do believe there was only one.
And it was hella fun.

Ehh... I'm just extremely squicked by RPF, and I've heard the Supernatural fanbase is specifically bad about it. I don't think it's fair to the actors or anything but a cheap way to pander to a crowd who are already toxic in a very bad way.
Even if it was only one, it was still one too many.

Well...that's your opinion, I guess. The 'RPS' episode in question didn't have the boys as lovers or anything, so I'm not sure what there was to be squicked about but - you do you.

??
I didn't see the episode, but any kind of RPF puts me off immediately. So, I'm kinda confused about the 'boys as lovers' thing since I never meant that... Rather I meant that acting is sort of the deal, so having a show ask you to play yourself to pander to crazy fans is kinda over my limit.

....they weren't asked to play themselves, they played Sam and Dean the whole time. And it wasn't done to 'pander' to anyone - fans weren't asking for a 'sam and dean travel to another dimension' episode.

Maybe you should at least read a synopsis before you make rather ignorant comments.

Good point, not going to though. They either did or did not do an RPF episode. I don't care enough to find out the who's and how's, just that the series as a whole either ran out of ideas to the point they thought RPF would be a fun meta thing to do, or did it because they knew that's the kind of thing their fanbase was into.
Even I realize how I sound, but this is Supernatural we're talking about here.

Yeah, a show with good enough ratings to run 15 seasons.

I really don't get why you'd make all kinds of comments about an episode you have no knowledge of, and a show you seem to hate. Seems pretty pointless.

I'm for bed, so - this is my last word on it.

Good night.

There is no rpf really they are not dating each other. They are with respective partners and had are no way like themselves i dont understand .
Also the cast of spn has in past leaned in to the rpf amd they dont care have said that at cons . also being in the fandom for years and years . the more toxic is the characters shipping then the rpf ones of supernatural

(Anonymous) 2019-04-15 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
...you do know about the Goss crowd, right? The ones where their wives are disgusting beards and Misha Collins is a disgusting "meard" (man beard!) They've been going since the start and they are really feral. Though I do agree there's some pretty awful fictional shippers in SPN too.

I just meant that an actor is supposed to play a character, so for a show to ask a character to play themselves is really sketchy to me. I never meant that they dated each other, just that they were asked to break character to play a fake version of themselves. I find that creepy, and not cool for a TV show to ask of an actor.

They have enough creative control on the show that if they didn't want to do it, they wouldn't have. As it is, it's both one of the fan and one of their personal favorites. It's been said at cons time and again.
