Would you be a superhero?

Nah, vigilante justice is terrible no matter who's doing it.

Big Time.

That depends entirely on the superpower. Healing powers, unfuck-the-environment powers, resurrect-recently-extinct-species powers? Yep. But most of the classic superhero things - regeneration, flight, lasers from my eyes - no. What the hell am I going to do with those?

Thank you for typing this out so I didn’t have to. Making plants grow, making it rain in drought-stricken areas, healing? Awesome. Flying and laser eyebeams? I get airsick and my eyesight sucks so I could puke on supervillains while frying the wrong people.

Yeah, the kind of superpowers that a good against super villains and the things we'd really need from a superhero IRL are two different things. "You can shoot lasers out your eyes? Cool, but the oceans are full of garbage and we need help with that."

Maybe? I think I'd be down for the small-time stuff, but the big, "we're probably gonna die for the cause here, people" stuff is...I doubt I'm that brave/selfless.

Also, if I had superpowers I would not be above using them to procure money for myself in one way or another. If I could do it legally, cool. But I wouldn't be above using my powers to cheat at gambling, or steal from bad people, or whatever.

Depends on the super power and if I am the only one with them. I think I would feel like shit if I could help people but didn't.

I generally don't support vigilante justice so I wouldn't be roaming the streets looking for "bad guys" to punish. If I was in a situation where I could save someone, like witnessing an armed robbery or whatever, I'd probably do it. It depends on what my superpower is though.

It would depend on the power? I mean - technically, being able to talk to dust mites is a super power, but...probably not particularly USEFUL.

If it was something really top-teir that was useful then...probably, in some way, yay. Gotta help if you can.

It would certainly be *interesting*, but...what could they really tell you? 'Good eating here' 'It's cold there' 'This eating spot moves sometimes'....

I guess it would be cool if you discovered dust mites had a wee, sekrit civilization, with dust mite scholars and scientists and things.....

Yeah! I'd technically have superpowers and do some things to help people that are probably tangentially related to them, therefore I'd be a superhero by definition.

Whether you would consider me a superhero is up for further debate.

Absolutely.

Depends on the power. If I could just magically tell where human remains are or ever were buried, I could be a super archaeologist/police consultant, but the extent to which that would make me a superhero is debatable. I wouldn't have any ability to save the world from super villains or even go punch criminals in the face, and I would not wear a silly outfit.
