What is this secret saying? "I have nothing in common with these women but I will bend over backwards to assure everyone that I'm not judging their shallow, vapid lifestyle and personalities"?

How is this a secret?

I don't know. I'm also confused by their usage of the word "opaque."

"I find this cultural touchstone alienating and it discomforts me that I struggle to pinpoint why" is a pretty common secret, on account of people presuming that if it's popular enough then everybody else Gets It

it's basically the same secret as the Series of Unfortunate Events one with a few details changed

I'm not sure what baggage you're bringing to the table here, but you've read a lot of negativity and contempt that simply is not present in the secret.

This was made from a comment from a little while back and it may have lost something in the translation to secret.

This seems entirely fair to me, though it probably doesn't need to be a secret. But if it feels like something people might challenge you on, who am I to say otherwise.

Personally, my "secret" is that I'm weirdly drawn to that whole "well-off ladies who are probably white, being friends and having rich people problems as well as maybe some more universal problems" dynamic. (SATC less-so, but I really loved Girlfriend's Guide To Divorce--which was better than the title makes it sound, I swear to god.) I'm white and female, but I grew up poor, have always earned below the poverty line, mental health issues have pretty much ensured that I'm never going to be some kind of cool, savvy go-getter; plus I'm ace. So I'm not really sure why I like these kinds of stories so much.

Yearning, I guess? My brain is like, "In another life, where your brain is less fucked, that's totally you." Isn't it pretty to think so, brain? Isn't it just?
