While I don't support the way some places in the states can fire anyone willy nilly, I do wish it was easier to fire people at my job. I have co-workers who dick all (or the bare minimum), spend time bitching about how the work is too hard/too much, and then in the time they spent bitching, they could have gotten the work done.

And yet unless you basically kill someone (or steal narcotics), you can't get fired.

I mean, they're making my job harder in that I have to do 50% of their work on top of my work, because it's healthcare and shit can't not get done. Annoying habits I can overlook even if they're annoying, but running myself into the ground and feeling guilty when I'm sick/injured and not wanting to call out because it impacts the good workers makes me angry.

Ugh, seriously. I once had a coworker who constantly showed up late, was always asking for time off, and then balked at doing anything resembling actual work. Somehow she never got fired for any of that despite the fact that she made everyone else's job harder by not doing what she was supposed to do.

Oh god, the late thing makes me so angry! Like, I have the good health of something made out of the K-Mart blue light special bin, which (before it was relatively under control) meant I had a lot of sick calls, and I got put on this ~attendance watch~ thing, and yet the people who are consistently late every fucking day for no reason other than not being able to get their shit together get a pass?
