Well, I wouldn't be surprised if the Captain Marvel thing did help it get picked up for distribution. And since Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were filmed back-to-back from Jan 2017 to July 2017 (Endgame was technically her first time filming as Captain Marvel, even though Captain Marvel was released first) and Unicorn Store was filmed in late 2016, it's possible she could have had some money from her MCU contract, depending on when it was finalized.

When was Captain Marvel announced / made / when was she paid
