As other people above me have pointed out, it's exhausting to have your opinions dissected in front of you.
I think your friend needs to grow up a little, and not invade your fandom space as often. Then you can have your escapism, and they can keep their heartfelt analysis to themselves.
In the interest of full disclosure, I enjoy fandom as escapism AND over analysis. It is, however, disgustingly rude to assume that someone else has to enjoy fandom your way just because you are physically present and willing to talk things over for an hour or two.
