You could be sad about both.

Speaking of the museum fire, though, this might be an unpopular opinion but I was annoyed that people were more upset about the loss of a woman’s skull and some big hunk of space rock than the loss of recordings of rare to extinct indigenous languages and indigenous artefacts that can never be replaced. I know feelings aren’t rational though. You can’t “make” people feel sad about an event that you think deserves more sadness than another event.
