Argh no why I hate even thinking about this because there’s jack shit I personally can do about it and pangolins are so cool; why does no one ever get on the “you know what makes tasty meals/cures cancer and makes dicks stand straight up? Invasive species! Try my rat-onna-stick, the missus’ll thank me!” train?

My local zoo took a couple in when 14 pangolins were found in a customs inspection (at the San Diego border, jfc they were smuggled alive from Asia), 5 of the 14 were alive when they got the call but only two made it to the zoo. One died fairly soon after and the other lasted a couple years—he was so cute! :-( They weren’t sure what he ate aside from bugs so part of his diet was vanilla Ensure so he’d get enough protein.
