Writing question

(Anonymous) 2019-04-19 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you write your fanfics/original stories/whatever in order? I just recently started something new after not writing in a long time and am finding myself writing different scenes as various things inspire them. Obviously at some point I need to go back and rearrange/edit things but I think it'll work out okay. I'm not sure how common it is to do it that way, though. Does anyone else write out of order, or do you start at the beginning and go straight through to the end?

I would say starting from the beginning and writing straight through to the end, especially with no pre-written outline, is the more UNcommon thing to do

I always write out of order. I've tried writing in order since it's such a pain in the butt to go back and put things in order and fill in plot holes, but it's not as fun that way.

Nope. I usually come up with a vague outline near the start, but I write scenes as they come to me.

I used to always write from beginning to end, but I don't do that anymore.

I generally have a beginning and ending in mind, and then write from the ending to the beginning.

I pretty much always have to do them in order. I can't fathom jumping around.
