How old do your fandoms skew?

(Anonymous) 2019-04-24 12:05 am (UTC)(link)I started watching Star Trek with TNG when I was a kid in the 80s (although I'd seen some re-runs of the original series and I'd also seen Star Trek IV). Not only was I aware that there was older Trek, but I was hyper aware that there was an established fandom and I was but a baby trekkie. Skip ahead to when the first reboot movie came out and imagine my surprise when I heard people referring to Trek fans who started with TNG (or even DS9 or Voyager) as "old school" fans! It was made weirder by the fact that the folks I'd consider actual old school fans were and are still around. I got over my surprise and now I think it's neat that Star Trek has so many entry points, and I suppose the fact that who is an old fan and who is a new fan is now a matter of perspective is kind of nice. One less thing for fans to be divided over.
