America's Test Kitchen/Cook's County is my favorite cooking show. I also like Martha Bakes and have even made recipes off of it, so don't be frightened of Martha Stewart! Good Eats was really educational, but I felt Alton Brown tended to get way to elaborate. The fact that he often advocated using stuff from the hardware store instead of fancy kitchen gadgets didn't change the fact that so much time and labor is involved. (Hence why ATK is great because they like to ask "Can you make this at home on a weeknight?)

I second the Kitchn for a website, and also suggest Budget Bytes. Those two are my go-tos. Budget Bytes if I just need an idea of what to make for lunch for the week, and the Kitchn if I need advice on how to make a particular kind of thing.

The only cooking You Tube channels I watch are Bon Appetit and occasionally How to Cake it, but I've never prepared anything based on those.

I liked America's Test Kitchen when Chris Kimball was on it. It seems to lose a lot of its chemistry without him (plus they seem to have gotten rid of the taste tests!)

I love, love, love America's Text Kitchen/Cook's County!! Christopher Kimball seems to genuinely love to talk about food and cooking, I always enjoy watching him talk about the episode's topic.
Martha Bakes is also nice to watch. Martha Stewart is just so organized, and her presentation is always cute. I've tried a good number of her recipes and her easy pancakes are my favorite pancakes to make. Really easy to make from scratch and they always come out pretty!
And yes! I agree with you about Alton Brown.
