178: I watched this movie for Year 12 English (We studied local movies), and after watching it 10 times (literally) so I had it down for the essay I had to write about it, I fell in love with it. I still listen to the music all the time. My god, it's so powerful.

115: The writers have tried so, so hard to make her into some sexy, angsty, mysterious character. And to me, all they've succeeded in doing is to make her really annoying and pretentious. Her entire character feels rushed and cliche, and that's why I don't like her as a character.

SO MUCH AGREEMENT. Seriously. Everyone has either gone "Ew, Cameron 2.0!" or "NO! She's not Cameron. How dare another attractive young woman get screen time? What if she messes up our already sunk ship with her complete lack of a relationship with House??"

Calm yourselves, fandom. Take the character (who isn't a Mary Sue) as she comes and then decide, instead of clinging to your first impressions.

Also: in 5.1, that moment when she said "We can have anything", my eyes totally welled up. So fuck you, crowd who say Olivia Wilde can't act.

I hate it when people assume that anyone has any kind of obligation to look good for them. I hate it when people assume that if you're cosplaying you have more of an obligation to look good than usual.

No-one has any obligation to anyone to look a certain way, cosplayers are not there for anyone's personal viewing pleasure any more than they are when they're not in cosplay, and sure, some of them want to show themselves off and look pretty just the same as some people do in everyday life, but the way people act you'd think that dressing as an anime character was the same thing as putting a sign around your neck that says "PLEASE JUDGE ME ON MY APPEARANCE EVEN MORE THAN YOU WOULD NORMALLY!" or something.

I spend a lot of time thinking things like this, but I'm still in the same boat: secrets like that are why I don't cosplay any more. Sigh.
