"America needs that"

ugh

This secret makes me realize why I never could connect with the Avengers movies. They're made for a millennial audience that's all about doing better and saving the world, and (1) holy shit that's boring to my nihilistic gen x self, and (2) it just makes me feel like I'm being preached at.

Anyway, Chris Evans seems like a fine actor and a nice guy, and I hope he continues to find success outside the series, hopefully playing roles with more nuance.

I have no idea whether I'm a millenial or not considering I swear I've seen like 10 different 'definitive years' for generations, but this seems so sad. Like... is helping people and saving the world (even in minute ways like, hey, buy bulk foods to save a little crap from the garbage heap) such a bad thing?

I think "saving the world" is a bad way to put it. I think helping people or making a difference are better ways to put it. Saving the world is more of a colonial, coming from a position of power to save the less powerful way of framing it. But the idea itself isn't bad.

I’m old for a millennial but I much prefer media and rl attitudes that say if people work together and help each other there’s hope for the future to grimdark media and “guess I’ll stockpile ammo in my bunker and wait eagerly for societal collapse” or “I got mine, why should I give a fuck about you” nutjobs.
