Spoiler

I didn't think it ruined Steve's character.

Agreed. I hadn’t seen the movie yesterday when those anons said this. Now I have, and I was okay with it. Not the cleanest ending in terms of cutting off loose ends but it was a pragmatic choice to deal with Evans’ departure.

Honestly, I am glad because it means they can easily bring him back if need be.

You've got to be shitting me ;)

Actually, every rumor I'd heard made sense after I saw the movie. I got concerned about how the ending was handled, until the alternate timeline thing was explained in further detail to me. I'll be wrapping my head around that one for a while.

It was a very heartfelt ending but made no logical sense.

I just find it stupidly improbable that no one knew about Steve. Did Peggy never let anyone meet her boyfriend? I would think his mere presence change the future. Is he really going to not tell Peggy about Hydra? How did SHIELD not know???

On the bright side, this means Steve can come back whenever they need the ratings boost.

The way I understand it, Steve found happiness in an alternate timeline. The Peggy he was with isn't necessarily the Peggy we saw in CA:WS. It's possible that, following those events, Steve then returned to the original timeline to give Falcon his shield.

NA

I didn't either, though it did surprise me a bit.

Spoilers

I will say I thought they did a better job with his make-up at the end than with Thor's.

More Spoilers in the comment to follow.

Seriously, Spoilers, though I will try to be oblique about it.

I was a little pissed off about Natasha. I have nothing against Clint, I just don't think they've done much with his character and I like her better. But I realize the rest of the team is much more connected to her than to him, so that's what that was about.

The actual plan, once they got everything together, didn't make sense to me. Not that I couldn't follow it or the reasons why, just that I think it would mess things up just so much more the way they did it, unless it was a lot more involved than what they said. Because it would be total chaos, again. Just due to the amount of time.

Natasha's death hurt, even though I was expecting several of the original six to die. I thought it was kind of touching she and Clint kept fighting over who got to make the sacrifice. I like Natasha more as well, but I was warming up to Ronin!Clint.

Even with the alternate timeline explanation, yeah, suddenly bringing back people five years into the future would upset some balance somewhere, I'd think. Not as much as snapping them out of existence, though.

ayrt

Not as much as snapping them out of existence, though. No, but I think a not insignificant amount would die, like the peripheral number that died because their pilot or someone driving or whoever was snapped away before, only now, it's the pilot or passenger or driver that was snapped back and the car or plan or spaceship is no longer where it was (an argument could be made for planets not being in the same position, but I could see that being avoided just because of how the snapper would be thinking about it).
