On the one hand, I think the way things are always sequels and prequels and universes now shows a lack of creativity and that the film industry in general is lesser for it. But on the other hand, when it comes to what I choose to watch, I like my favorite universes and will return their time and time again and only sometimes am willing to try something new.

It depends on the sequel but yes, I understand that completely.

Bonus Secret: A few years ago, I would have wanted a sequel for a film that I liked, but that film didn't do well at the box office. But now, I wouldn't want a sequel since the director and cast have done questionable things that would ruin it all. I'd rather have a tv show reboot with a new and different showrunner and cast.

My problem is with remakes. There are some decent sequels out there but very few good remakes.

Aliens is my favorite movie. The Terminator was maybe made better because of Terminator 2. Both Grease 2 and Jaws 3-D are such wonderfully terrible movies. Though Star Wars: A New Hope is complete unto itself, I think it is richer for The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi. And it doesn't just go for movies over 25 years old, I liked Happy Death Day, but I think Happy Death Day 2U (Feb 2019) was maybe better.

I do think there are way too many out there, but some are quite good (and some are awful, but so much fun to watch).
