Recent is relative, but the Turpins have been in the news pretty consistently what with the sentencing and all. And that has led to highlighting a bunch of other cases, including the one from earlier this year with the guy in Milwaukee who was letting his older sons sexually assault the younger siblings.

Keep in mind, this is not to say that homeschooling leads to child abuse. It's just that if someone is already inclined to abuse children, homeschooling limits the number of people who have access to those children and might 1)notice that something's not right and 2)be in a position to do anything about it.
