It looks fun and casual and I have no idea why people hate it with such vehemence

I think it's because it makes you look like you can't dress yourself.

It's up there with getting a skirt tucked into your knickers. Just looks messy and does nothing for anyone's figure.

Well, unless you don't want people to notice it because they're too busy thinking 'yikes, this person can't dress themselves'.

But each to their own.

But you clearly are aware that it's something that people do intentionally. So you literally know that it doesn't actually mean that.

nayrt but something can still look lazy and messy even if it was intentional.

Ehhh. People also deliberately wear Ed Hardy, backwards baseball caps and those pants where the crotch is around your knees. It still looks like they can't dress themselves.

This

I've been wondering - do people still wear Ed Hardy? Fortunately, it's gone mostly out of style where I live but I doubt everywhere has been so lucky.

nayrt

but I just learned about this here today on f!s so up until this point I literally believed people genuinely were just messy and sloppy. I didn't know this was a deliberate choice.

Honestly same.

Some people do a sloppy look and get read as effortlessly casual.

Some people do a sloppy look and get read as slobs who can't dress themselves.

I fall into the latter category, Tan into the former.

It always depends on the type. It's like good looking and otherwise well-groomed men can pull off some stubble on their face or beards while men who aren't often can't.

If you google "fashion" you will see that just about every unflattering or downright hilariously bad fashion choice was made intentionally by a person, somewhere in time. The mullet is/was intentional. It doesn't mean everyone has to believe it looks great, just because someone somewhere chose it on purpose.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-30 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Because the world is full of snots who are completely up themselves over anything and everything even vaguely fashion-related.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-30 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
This is true. Doesn't really apply here though, because OP has clearly stated the reasons why they don't like the french tuck, and it's not just kneejerk snobbery. Though I can see why french tuck fans might comfort themselves into labeling it as such. ;)

You come across as smarmy af.
