The last time I read Naruto was in 2007 and my main idea of what happened after is "it ended and then it got a next gen sequel", so the critical question clearly needs asking:

Who the hell did Kakashi end up with.

Sai/Ino was the only canon endgame ship I didn’t mind. For the record the most I knew about Boruto the series came from the short manga where Sarada thought Sasuke wasn’t her dad. (Or was it that Sakura wasn’t her mom?)

Hi, I'm anon who made the comment this secret was adapted from and YES oh fuck I agree. The thread the comment was from was under a Naruto secret but I actually also really, really hate Fruits Basket for this (and other things) as well - more than Naruto actually, because I followed Fruits Basket back in the day longer than I did Naruto.

Ugh, Furuba, Harry Potter and Naruto are my Unholy Trinity... aka I actually shipped several het ships (and ofc gay ships, but I knew those didn't have a chance) with a chance (aka not super obscure ones) and still NONE of my ships became canon. NONE. I'm usually not all RARA-CANON, but when it's those ~happily ever after canon set in stone endings, it's just bleh to not have at least one ship you won't have to read AIÙ fic now for.

At least Naruto and HP never baited you into thinking gay ships even existed, but man, did Furuba shamelessly dangle the possibility of gay relationships only to no homo so hard it changed the fucking gender of a character at the last minute to make a ship straight. Goddamn, Furuba is frustrating to this day.

My ship sailed in Naruto, so I wasn't too pissed off about everyone getting paired off and having babies (with the exception of Sakura 'cause fuck Sasuke). Furuba was definitely worse and everyone getting married soured the series for me a little. Furuba also got the Boruto treatment, but the manga either got cancelled or is on a really long hiatus.

Well, you're not wrong... And I hate it too, despite having my ship sail and getting a movie (yes, it was NaruHina, though I also shipped SasuNaruSasu). I also hated it in Harry Potter and I will continue to hate it 'til the end of time because every story I've read so far always end up with Babies Ever After.

I'd been okay with it all (Shikamaru/Temari had merits...) if he had just kept fucking Sasuke the hell away from Sakura. I wasn't invested in any ship actually happening, but I WAS invested in this one not happening. Still to this day. Ew.

Naruto and Sasuke are still my OTP. I actually wished they both had died at the end or that Sasuke had died and Naruto would be alone and lost forever. The same way it happened with Kamina dying in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Hell yes. Hurt forever.
