Isn't it the same CGI playing on the animation in cartoons, like make the eyes squint and grin bigger to give off different emotions? Like the thing they've been doing since CGI first started? Or am I missing something here?

It's like fans don't realize that animated facial expressions are usually based on the expressions of a real live person (either an actor acting in the place of Venom or the animator's own expression acting) to make it convincing.
